Instructional Aide
As an Instructional Aide in our Special Education program, you'll work side-by-side with teachers and students to create learning environments where every child can grow, connect, and thrive.

DEFINITION:
Under supervision, to perform a variety of instructional activities; to perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel; assists instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials; performs a variety of clerical tasks associated with the classroom; assist in the preparation/organization of learning centers, may administer and score various tests; assists in the coordination and operation of a program for cross-cultural, limited English speaking students; other related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to: Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups. Communicate effectively in oral and written form; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults. Understand and carry out oral and written direction; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults. Perform routine clerical tasks and operate a variety of office-related equipment. Learn to utilize a variety of instructional materials and procedures
Knowledge of: Basic concepts of child growth and development, student behavior; appropriate English usage, basic arithmetic concepts; student behavior management strategies and techniques
Experience: One year of college training or experience as a volunteer or paid aide. Ability to perform clerical skills required. Bilingual skills would be helpful.
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, preferably with training or coursework in child growth and development, special education, or related field.
License and Certificate: Possess or secure CPR training issued by American Red Cross within six months.
Health and Welfare: No Health benefits for less than 20 hours per week. Health benefits are available on a pro-rated basis for more than 20 hours per week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Require vision (which may be corrected) to read small print;
2. Require the mobility to stand, stoop, reach, and bend;
3. May involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and ramps;
4. Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects;
5. Requires the ability to stand for long periods;
6. Requires the ability to sit and walk for extended periods;
7. Perform work which involves frequent lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects which may weigh approximately twenty-five (25) pounds;
8. Subject to inside and occasionally outside environmental conditions;
